ReplyDelete1. The driving theme or event that dictates a story or series of stories. EX: 1. John and Randy are in a boat that has just started to sink and John has just learned there is only one life vest. 2. Frodo has just discovered he has the One Ring to rule them all and Gandalf tells him he has to destroy the ring within 15 minutes to satisfy Professor Stanely’s disinterest.
2.Without a plot in a story there really isn’t a story to tell; it would be more like telling facts or reading a grocery list. You need a plot to bring interest to the audience.
3.A good plot keeps you on your toes and surprises you from time to time. You know if your still engaged in the story.
4. In the movie Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, Rudolf had a very shiny nose that made him an outcast among all the other reindeer. On top of that there was an abdominal snow man that wanted to eat Rudolf’s family and girl friend. Rudolf had to overcome his feelings of inadequacy to face the abdominal snow man and ultimately a blinding snow storm. Don’t worry he does, he even goes down in history. The film had a very simple plot, yet was able to tell a classic story, that continues to inspire people all over the world.
5.Araby’s plot was not immediately evident, which made the audience search for clues to find a direction. Ultimately, Araby does reveal it’s plot, a boy is infatuated with his friends older sister and in order to impress the girl, the boy believes he must purchase something for her at the local bizarre. The plot was strong, at least enough to keep the audience wanting more.
6. A plot is like the nervous system of a story. Without a nervous system you can’t feel anything. Without a good plot the reader can’t feel with the characters, making them forgettable. A good plot is powerful in that it sets the stage for strong, emotional characters that can convey a message or make an impact on you.
Tommy i agree with you on number 3, how do we know it's a good plot? It has the audience on their toes and engaged exactly what you had said.

ReplyDeleteTommy - I like your interpretations, I agree that the plot is the whole point of a story. I think that the Araby's plot was quick to pick up but you're right about finding clues in the story. The plot explains the story, it tells you what to look forward to and usually is written as a summary. You can see this when you are looking at novels and movies, typically they are on the back outside cover. You even see these when you are on YouTube, its the headline or subtext under the video posted, for example; "Man gets chased by bull".
The plot is everything, its like the meat and potatoes to a meal, you don't just want salad or soup you want the whole nine yards. No plot? Then you have nothing! Without plot you are left sitting in a silent room and a black screen or a book with blank pages.
A good plot provides the reader or viewer a chance to feel like they are right in the story with the characters, it makes you wanting more and encourages you to leave the world behind and jump into the unknown and open your mind for what is about to happen next.
I know what makes a good plot because I am a reader/viewer and the authors are writing for us. They want us drooling for the next scene, they don't want us to know what's about to happen, then we wouldn't buy their books or watch their movies. Nobody wants to be predictable, everyone loves the unknown and gets the thrill of a surprise.
I recently saw a movie and it was mind blowing, the plot was great and it made me feel like I was part of the action! I thought I knew where the setting was and what the plot was but in the end it turned out to be a series of tests and lies that left the characters thinking that their mission was over but in reality it had just begun. There are many more hurdles to jump and their enemy whom they think are dead conveniently are alive and are raising the bar on the next go around.
In Araby the plot is based around the life of a boy who was stuck living next to a girl that he was head over heels for. He couldn't go one second without thinking about her and it engulfed his whole livelihood, he needed to see her and talk to her or else he couldn't enjoy life. This is a strong plot, the persistence that this young boy has just to maybe find a gift for this girl that he has strong feelings for is intense. It makes you wonder who she is, why she has such a big affect on him and how he might overcome all the barriers in his way.
The plot should be something that drives the story, it can be good or bad but it sets the tone for the whole story. It improves the text of the by giving the readers a chance to find out who these characters are and why they are doing the things they are doing. If there isn't much going on between the characters the readers/viewers lose interest and they either close the book or turn off the movie. When we read a book or watch a movie we are trying to escape reality, a great plot does this for us. When there is no plot or it just plain stinks we turn off the TV or close the book and move on to something more entertaining.
I agree with you liz without a plot there really isn't a purpose in the book/movie.

Hmmm, you both make excellent points, but I believe I'm going to have to disagree. I don't see the plot as the nervous system or the "meat" of the story. I see it more as the skeleton. For example, the plot of a story can be, "A boy meets a gorilla, they have a series of wacky adventures, and they learn that despite the great differences between them, friendship has no boundaries." This is a plot, which is a story line. A writer could go back and expand that skeleton of a plot into a magnificent story with great details and "meat".
ReplyDeleteA plot is necessary because without it, the story would have no structure, or skeleton. It would just be a motionless blob. A story without a plot would have ideas, but wouldn't answer Professor Stanley's, "So what?", "Now what?", or, "Who cares?" Without a plot, you would just have Robot Chicken.
A good plot would have to captivate an audience. It can't just be, "Jacob goes to the bank." A better example of a plot would be, "Jacob, an aspiring comedian, goes to the bank on a sunny Friday afternoon when it is robbed. As the whole bank panics, Jacob decides to take a stand and use his powers of humor for good." A good plot is easy to follow and typically makes sense. No one would want to read a story that has a confusing story line or is just generally difficult to follow.
The most recent movie I watched involved two brothers who won olympic gold medals in wrestling. As the next olympics neared, a very wealthy man decided to sponsor the younger of the two brothers to enter the olympics. He provided him with housing and everything required to train. Unfortunately, the wealthy man began abusing the wrestler causing the young man to turn to alcohol and drugs to cope. The overall assertion of the plot is that a seemingly generous man used his wealth to take advantage of a young man.
I feel like both, Liz and Tommy captured the essence of the plot to Araby. Araby is about a young boy who is completely infatuated with an older girl. One day, he is given what he believes is an opportunity to win her heart, but as the day progresses, he is met with more and more disappointment and ultimately failure. I definitely agree with Tommy that the plot is definitely a strength to the story which leaves the reader wanting more.
-Elephantsicko
A good plot has to be the "nervous system" of any story. A lot of things happen to a lot of people in the world or any other, but without an idea of order or symmetry no one cares. Even Robot Chicken has a plot...or two...or ten.

1) Plot in a story, is The movement of events transitioning from point A to point B ,in a captivating manner(keeping the reader interested is the main purpose).
ReplyDeleteEx1-In the movie “The Book of Eli “All the bibles were destroyed, an because of it that left Eli with the last bible. The reason I use this movie because of the twists and turn into the plot really had the viewer fixed for more. Eli ends up losing the book, and once you think the story is over, it turns out he had the book memorized not only that the the man was blind Threw out the movie (the audience has no clue of this).
Ex2-Most people know the the story of the 300 Spartan warriors who fought against Persia. This was based on a true story in history, Even though the audience knows what’s going to happens because of the popularity of this story, what captivates the viewer is that its Hollywood’s interpretation of the story (meaning twists and turns) and stays related to the truth as much as possible, when you deviate from the truth you will lose the effect of the plot because it’s based on true story
2) Without a plot you have no story, plain and simple it’s just another day in the life of somebody or something.Reason1-Plot gives structure to Story in a turn of Events either being positive or negative, it’s the reason why someone is telling the story. Reason 2-Plot is what captivates the reader, it’s the reason of the reading, it adds flavor to the story, without flavor you don’t want to finish the story.
3) What makes a good plot is that it has the reader on the edge of his or hers seat. How do I know this, because when we compare a story with a crummy plot to a story with an astronomical life changing plot we, the reader can tell the difference. The flavor of one story is a must have, why? Because the plot makes that much of a difference.
4) “Dracula Untold” may not have been the 100% truth of the story, but “Hollywood” adds so many twist and turn that in the ends has the viewer is looking for more. In the movie “Dracula Untold” A warrior that is just a man has to protect his kingdom from the enemy’s army, his kingdom is small and weak. He makes the ultimate sacrifice by drinking the blood of a vampire, if he does not win the war in 3 days then his kingdom is lost in those 3 day, he has a thirst for human blood so grate, its like asking a mosquito to stop being a mosquito. In the end he falls into temptation, and soon dies, once dead one of his followers bring him back to life then the movie is over leaving the viewer in suspense
5) “Araby” takes place in a small Ireland town. The story takes off with a young man, infatuated with his friend’s older sister, which he is constantly thinking of her, and when the boy gets a chance he jumps at the thought of getting her a gift at the market. The stories plot gradually escalades, and in the end the author leaves the reader in suspense. The authors plot is a 5 out of 10 in my opinion
6) Taking away a plots from the story Is like taking away the brain from a human, the story seems very monotone and mundane, a weak plot undermines the authors texts because there no surprise there no shift, there is no wow factor. I don’t feel like reading it if it has a bad plot, im going to just be very upset because of it that’s how important the plot is. A good plot on the other hand can turn a story with weak text to an interesting and suspenseful reading.

DeleteI agree with you, the plot is takes you to point A to B.
I disagree, I think anything going from point A to point B is a story. A plot is a full sequence of events.
Delete- Haakam Sherwani
Anything can happen between A and point B,theres an infinite amount of possibilities, what i mean by point A to Point B is that something has to change and depending if you have a good plot that something will grab the readers attention
Delete-Benjamin Rosales
A plot is basically events that make up a story. In other words, all the events must have a purpose. Last year in my AP English class i was taught setting, conflict, rising action, climax, and conclusion. This is a simple method in order to portray a plot. For instance the movie the Girl next door: the girl ends up meeting the boy, the boy starts to like her, the boy loses the girl, and towards the end the boy ends up winning her back. Guardians of the Galaxy: A bunch of crooks are fighting each other over a valuable possession that will make them rich, they end up working together in order to escape, throughout all the hardships and conflicts they end up becoming best friends.
ReplyDeleteIf there would to be no plot then the movie/book would just be a whole bunch of meaningless words. Maintaining structure and a sequence of events is what makes the reader or watcher zoned in into the movie/book. Good plots keep you out of your seat when watching a movie. In order to make a good plot there has to be some sort of conflict, it doesn't matter is the problem is big or small. There's different types of conflicts including Man vs Man, Man vs Nature, Man vs Self, Man vs Man's work. Think about it if there was no conflict to be found in a movie it would just be a regular monotonous movie.
An example of a movie of a good plot is World War Z. The setting occurs in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania everything begins calm and stable until they hit traffic. The Conflict in the movie is a Zombie Epidemic so now its all about survival of the fittest. Brad Pitt and his family is rescued by ex military and set in a surviving naval carrier. Brad Pitt is then ordered to travel to Jerusalem with a scientist in order to retrieve information while he's family is being threatened to get kicked out of the carrier if Brad Pitt declines. Brad Pitt finally finds the CDC facility and out of more than 20 vaccinations he chooses one and injects himself not knowing the consequence. Brad Pit ends up discovering the cure, and slowly the world is coming back together again to fight off the infection and claiming back their homes.
The plot in Araby takes place in a small town in Ireland. The story continues with a young man who is obsessed with one of he's friends sister's. The young boy then tries to impress her by bringing her an item from the bazaar. The young boy runs out of time and becomes angry and heartbroken. The plot was very strong, it left readers wanting to know what occurs next. The plot impresses the authors text by enabling the authors to enrich and extend their story by keeping their readers vigilant. A week plot drives the readers away making them move on to either a better book, or a better author.
-Cristian Rayas
Plot is sometimes used to refer to the events recounted in a fictional work, and the way the author sequences and paces the events so as to shape our response and interpretation. The plot of “Araby” was that the girls talked for the first time to the boy, so he wanted to get her a present but the event happened that he was unable to get her anything. The plot in the movie Taken was that the two young girls went on vacation to Paris to have fun, but instead they were kidnapped and the father of one of the girls went to find her. The plot is necessary because it answers the question, what happened? It also, gives the sequence of how the events occur. A good plot as five parts: exposition, rising action, climax or turning point, falling section, and conclusion. The plot in “Araby” was a boy that liked the sister of a friend, and after a while she talking to him about going to the Araby. The boy decided to go so he could get her a gift once at the Araby the boy stood in the darkness. I think the plot strengthen “Araby”. The power behind the plot makes the author text interesting making the reader want to know more. A weak plot decrease the value of an author’s text because it will make it seem boring to the reader.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, a plot does make the whole story interesting. Without a plot there would be no real story for the reader to get hooked on to.

ReplyDelete1. The plot is basically the general make up of a story. I agree with you Elephantsicko in that the plot is more like the skeleton of the story, because it in essence it is the root of the story.
a. Ex: War of the worlds: The world has been taken over by chaos, disaster, and creatures of another world. With a low morale in the community a father brings it upon himself to be a leader and save his family.
b. Ex: Home alone: During the holiday season a boy from a large family wishes to disown his family. The next morning while his family leaves to go on vacation and the little boy is left behind. While the boy enjoys some time alone, their parents must find a way to go home and find their son.
2. Having a plot is important because it is an aid for the reader to know the context of the story. It also makes the story a bit easier to navigate.
3. A good plot makes the story easier to read and interesting enough to keep the reader invested. I know this because I’ve experienced it reading stories before. Sometimes the plot of a story can be disorganized or unclear and that gives the reader great difficulty knowing the true purpose of the story.
4. Jump Street 22: Two young police officers are tasked to find some criminals that have been infiltrating a college campus. Their mission becomes difficult as their friendship becomes unclear as both officers find different interests in their undercover lives. Throughout the difficulties, they must find a way to work together and accomplish their objective.
5. The plot in Araby is very constant and mellow. The story doesn’t seem to be very upbeat, it’s just very dark the whole time. The whole plot revolves around the boy trying to make contact with Mangan, who in his eyes, seems to be the love of his life. As he tries to make his way to the bazaar where plans to buy a gift his disappointment grows, as he feels uncertain if something between them will ever catch a spark. The plot is strengthened by the heavy imagery, but in the end I feel like the reader is let down because there was no defined ending that brought any closure.
6. Like I had mentioned before, the power of a plot is immense because it brings the reader an outline of what they will be reading and give more context to the story. When there’s a stronger plot we see a stronger story and usually the reader will make more sense of it.

ReplyDelete1) the plot is what is happening in the narrative, like from every story, books, plays, and films, tv and newspaper article and television program is based on plots.
ex. how the events unflod in a casual manner
ex. making the plot interested
2) Witout a plot, the character would have nothing to do.
ex. significant events
ex. mood, character,theme,world.
3) A good plot is about organizing ideas in a way is a appealing to the reader.
4) The Grinch that Stoled Christmas, a green character that hated christmas and did not like to be around people or even the time giving, but a little girl gave him hope no matter what happen in his past he coould still have the heart to love Christams again.
5) In the Araby's story in takes place in Ireland and a young boy and older girl, and the young boy is trying to impress the older girls with a gift. A the end of the story it leaves hanging of what happens next.
6) Overall having a good story, with the character, and every detail you need ti impress the reader and giving them to read more, or what is going to happen next in the chapter.
1. plot is the series of event that catches peoples attention. a) Gabriel meets a girl and falls in love and right before their marriage he finds out she only wants him for his money. b) the three little pigs learn that working together will help them keep away the big bad wolf and they go different obstacles.
ReplyDelete2. A plot is necessary to know the story line and understand where it is going. If a story does not have a plot it will not have any meaning to it so it give you an idea of what the story is going to be about. The readers attention and will not want to stop reading if it has a story line.
3. A good plot is a one that has you biting your nails and keeping you up at night wanting to read more. Because it does the following things to you, but a good plot is an opinion because I could absolutely hate what the person next to me likes.
4. Fast and the Furious has a different plot in every movie but i like them all. In the movie all the characters where is the little heavens until someone brings to their attention that one of their "family" members were still alive so they all went to find them and did not let anything get in their way. The plot and pretty simple and it was a great movie with a message behind it, family is always first.
5. A young Irish boy wants to talk to an older girl and when be finally does he figure's he can impress her by buying a gift, but that did not happen but the author did not say what happen after so you could only imagine. It strength the story for some people because they can put their own ending and imagination is endless. But for other is might be a weakness because they want closure.
6. A solid plot makes the difference between a 1st graders writing and a good writer knowing where the story will go. It improves the story by making it interesting and actually having a point to the writing. Taking out a plot from is a story is like cutting a head from a lizard, it will go everywhere without any purpose.
1. A plot is a main problem or event that happens throughout some type of work that has to do with a story line. One example of a plot is from the story “Annie”. The plot in this story is a foster child that can’t seem to find her parents. Later there is a plot twist where she finds someone that she can call family but is not really her family. Another example is from the movie Inception. In this movie the man is trying to get back to his children while facing his past and going through a mission. The movie seems to start with a climax and end with a climax. The whole movies is intense and has a very good plot that keeps the audience’s attention.
ReplyDelete2. The plot is necessary because it is what makes the story from characters to setting. A plot is the basis of a story. It makes up the conflict, and climax.
3. A good plot has a story line with conflict and rising action.
4. A recent movie have seen would be “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay”. The plot of this movie is the war going on between the people and the capitol. The main character Katniss has to try and save Pete from the capitol. The capitol is trying to destroy Katniss because they don’t want the rebellion of the Mockingjay to continue.
5. The plot in “Araby” is a boy that likes a girl but can’t seem to get her attention unless he buys her a gift from the bazaar. He keeps on waiting until his uncle comes so that he can go to the bazaar but the uncle comes late.
6. The overall power behind plot is the idea that a plot makes up the story line. Everything is based around the plot. A week plot decreases the value of an author’s text because the plot is the basis of how interesting the story is. If the plot is not worthy, neither would the story.
- Salam Zaidan
The plot is, more or less, a sequence of events that tell what happened, what is happening, and what is going to happen; it is what should encourage the reader/viewer to ask himself, “what will happen next and how will all this turn out?” I agree with Elephantsicco that the plot is like the skeleton, it is the base of the story. For example, in the movie Gothika, with Hale Berry, we learn that a murder has happened and the victim’s wife is the murderer, but she fails to remember committing such a heinous crime and believes to be innocent, but is she? She is then visited by a supernatural being that will help her find the answers that she is looking for, but will she find them? Another example of a plot is like in Plato’s The Republic. In The Republic, we learn that there is room for a superior style of society based only on reason. The plot is set with Socrates talking to Glaucon describing how the perfect society, with nothing but the best and only winners, would function if the 3 waves were to be put into action.
ReplyDeleteThe plot is definitely necessary because without, like wheeler mentioned, there isn’t a story. The plot could be like the salsa on the fajita tacos from Taconmadre or like dad’s always-truthful advice, it provides flavor to the story and a possible moral message. Additionally, the plot can be of entertainment in comedy, horror or action, or it can be heartwarming like in drama.
A good plot is one that makes you wonder what is going to happen next, like some of my classmates already mentioned; it keeps you on the edge of your seat. I know this because I go to the movies at least twice a month and I’ve had my share of bad storylines, and also great plots. With an exceptional plot, there is no difficulty sitting in a theater for 2 hours.
The plot in Araby is about a boy who is unlikely to ever get the girl but despite his challenges, he is going to try anyways. It is a great plot because, although the story seemed to have been cut short, it made me wonder what would happen next and how will it all turn-out.
The overall power of the plot is that it invoked thought and wonder. A good plot improves the author’s text by encouraging the reader/viewer to continue to read/view; it motivates a reader/viewer to buy the next book or watch the next movie. A bad plot will discourage all of that from happening.

ReplyDeleteA plot can be described as a series of events, it helps you get to the moral of the story. A plot has a cause and effect which can change the movie or story completely. First example, in home alone the little boy stays home during the holidays thinking he is going to have so much fun by himself. He then realizes how dangerous it is, when two bad guys try breaking in and also how much he misses his family. Second example, The Polar Express is the story of a young boy who doesn’t believe in Santa Claus. He boards the polar express on a magical train to the North Pole to Santa Claus home. Shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe in him. A plot is necessary firs of all because it is the events that make up the story. It introduces the characters and gives background information about them. It leads to the climax and the reader or watchers attention wanting to know more. Without the plot the story has no moral to it. A good plot keeps you informed and entertained wanting to know more. Nobody wants read a boring book with lack of information. An example of a plot in a recent movie I have seen would be in the movie Frozen. The plot is that Elsa freezes everything she touches. Because of the power, she isolates herself because she ended up freezing her sister and does not want to harm anybody.I agree with Tommy in Araby the plot was not direct, the story gave a lot of detail of what the boy was doing to get this girls attention he desired, but could not have. He does anything he can possible to try to catch this girls attention. Once he knew this was something she wanted, he knew he had to do anything possible to go to this bazaar. The plot was strong, it has the readers wondering what’s next. The plot has pretty much all the power to the story. If the plot makes no sense neither will the story. A weak plot decreases the value of the author’s text because the plot reflects on the text.
1. A plot is a sequence of events that happen in chronological order that makes a story. a) Micheal was nervous for the state title game. His team struggled in the first half. The y came to play in the second half. The game was tied with 1 second to go. Micheal makes the shot. They win. b) Ben plans to rob a bank to help pay for his wife's hospital bills. He came in, just him an his gun. He took hostages, and had a 4 hour stand off with the cops. Finally, he went out and started firing, the cops killed him immediately.
ReplyDelete2. Plot is necessary, because it gives us all of the events that have occurred. A story can be anything that goes from point A to point B, there are many stories in one plot, and a plot is everything that has occurred. Another reason why it is so important is because it establishes an organized way of giving us all of the events. We'd be lost without it.
3. A good plot contains stories that has some sense of chronological order. Whether they are flashbacks or looks ahead, at the end of the plot, we know all the events that have taken place within the con finds of the plot. Most of the greatest stories use this, such as Romeo and Juliet and The Odyssey.
4. A movie that I have seen recently is Glory Road. The movie gives us each event in chronological order. Don Haskins becomes coach of the Texas Western Miners, he recruits African-American players to play, and against all odds, he coaches the players to a national championship win. It was very effective and a great movie.
5. The plot was a weakness in the Araby, because all of the events were never revealed. There was never a resolution, it was sort of just a fade to black, and we were left to predict what had happened.
6. A good plot takes a story or novel from being good to great, and a bad one does the exact opposite. The plot is what the audience wants to see. We want some kind of structure so that we can understand the play, story, or novel.
- Haakam Sherwani
1. Fully define plot and provide two examples.
ReplyDeleteThe Merriam-Webster dictionary defines plot as “a series of events that form the story in a novel, movie, etc.”
Two examples of a stories plot would be the following:
a. Rick and his group must survive in a walker filled world with limited supplies and provisions after the zombie apocalypse.
b. An island off of the cost of Isla Sorna is made into a theme park with real dinosaurs. The millionaire philanthropist who owns the park invites highly regarded paleobotonists to tour it before it opens to gain there public approval. Everything goes fine until…
2. Why is plot necessary? Provide two reasons.
Plot is required for your story to have direction. Without any plot the reader/viewer cannot establish what is going on or why this is even relevant in the first place.
3. What makes a good plot? How do you know?
A good plot is one in which there is enough information and detail to keep the reader interested, but not so much that it bores the viewer.
4. Provide an example of plot in a recent movie you have seen. What is your overall assertion of the movie's use of plot?
I recently watched, again, the classic The Hunt for Red October. The plot is fairly simple. Captain Rameus takes out a new, state of the art submarine for a test run, but is actually going to use it (undenounced to the crew) to escape Russia and receive asylum from the Americans. This plot was detail oriented enough to, once again, keep the viewer “on the edge of their seat,” but not so much as to lose their interest.
5. Describe the plot in "Araby" by James Joyce? Is the plot a strength or a weakness of "Araby," and how do you know?
The plot of “Araby” is a boy in a parochial school falls in love with an older girl from the convent. He tries to go the bazaar to buy something and gain her attention and affection. I believe this plot neither strengthens nor weakens the piece. Every story needs a story, if such a thing makes sense.
6. What is the overall power behind plot? How does a good plot improve the author's text? How does a weak plot decrease the value of an author's text?
The overall power behind plot is the innate ability to keep the viewer’s interest. Does Rick survive the post-apocalyptic world? Does Jurassic Park succeed and avert imminent disaster? It is important to note that a good plot does not improve or weaken the author’s text. A good plot requires good text just to exist. Without good text, there would not be a good plot! A good plot starts with a good idea, which should then lead to good text. Without any one of these components, the whole plan falls apart.
J.N.Karshner
1. It’s the events that make up a story, particularly as they relate to one another in a pattern, in a sequence, through cause and effect. How the reader views the story. One example is the plot in Araby, which is about a young boy growing up in a very religious community in Ireland who falls in love with a friend’s older sister, and is willing to risk danger to impress her. Shawshank Redemption is the story of a man who is wrongly convicted of the murder of his wife and sent to prison. He endures a countless number of hardships that are hard to fathom, only to escape after twenty years of imprisonment.
ReplyDelete2. The plot is what brings all of the facts of a story together, and puts them in order. The plot also leads to the climax of the story, if you show the ending of a movie, or tell the ending of a book in the first paragraph, it’s harder to draw the reader in.
3. A good plot will achieve the author’s goals for their readers. If you’re Stephen King, then you most likely want to confuse, and maybe even scare your audience. You’ll know if your plot was effective from feedback you receive from your peers, and others. If they agree that your work held their attention.
4. The last movie I saw was John Wick, which is far from an academy award winner. The main character, a retired hit man, is drawn back into his old lifestyle of killing anybody who looks at him funny, because a group of Russians broke into his house and killed his dog. Even though the puppy was a gift from his late wife, the movie was outrageous to say the least. The only way it was able to keep my attention was the constant action. Without the bloody imagery, the movie would have been unbearable. The story line offered was subpar.
5. “Araby” is a story about a boy growing up in a religious family, most likely even some priest, who falls for the older sister of a friend. I think the plot is a strength. You are very interested in what’s going to happen next while reading the story. It was a disappointment that it ended so abruptly, which means to me that the plot worked.
6. The plot to a movie, and or book can make or break your writing. You must be organized in your writing, this is the best way to get your point across. While writing you want to be able to reach your audience, and make them think and feel the way you intend with your words. A weak plot can make your audience lose focus and make it easy for their mind to wonder.

1. Plot refers to events recounted in a fictional work.
ReplyDelete2. It moves the story along, It takes us through the events of the story. Keeps us interested, or not...
3. A good plot makes me want to keep reading the story.
4. "The Expendables". Plot was all action. Get the bad guy.
5. The plot is the story of the young mans interest in his friends sister, the older woman. Strength. It is interesting, gripping and suspenseful even.
6. it presents a conflict, external or internal, and provides a resolution.

1. Plot is defined as the events that make up a story, in a sequence.
ReplyDeleteEx. Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy wins girl back in the end.
Ex. Girl marries young, husband treats her badly, husband dies, girl marries man who has loved her for a long time.
2. A plot is needed because it's what makes the story. Without a plot the story isnt interesting, a plot draws viewers closer into the story following the direction of the story.
3. A good plot is when there's enough detail and vivid images that you can picture the story whick keep you wheling back inside the story wanting more.
4. A movie that I've seen recently is Sex Tape. A married couple wake up to discover that the sex tape they made the evening before has gone missing, The next day, Jay gets a text from someone saying he enjoyed his video. That's when he realizes what happened. When he tells Annie she freaks out and decides to try and retrieve all the Ipads. Which take them on a wild adventure.
5. The plot in "Araby" was weakness because it was never resolved leading the readers to questions of what would happen next.
6. The overall power behind plot is to make the readers want to keep reading keeping it intresting adding very descriptive images. A good plot can improve the authors text because most of the time it will have a good ending instead of keeping readers thinking. A weak plot decrease the value of an author's text because the readers just fall off of what they are reading because the plot was not well set up.
